Today, Ty announces the June 2007 Ty product introductions. There are 16 new styles spread among three product lines. Here they are:
Another Beales Bear
United Kingdom
May 31, 2007
Thinking that lightning could strike twice in the same place, I wrote to Beales, a UK-based department store, last month. I asked if they expected to introduce about another store exclusive. I received a response, stating that they would have a 2007 bear. Since I did not want to distract from the launch of the Cornwall - exclusive bears, I waited until now to post the news below.
Here is what I wrote to the department store:
Last year (2006), you had an exclusive Beales Ty Beanie Baby called Nigel. Are you expecting to have another exclusive Ty Beanie Baby this year? If so, can you please provide more information?
Here is the response I received:
Dear -----
Thank you for your email and having spoken to our Merchandise Director, I understand that there will be a 2007 bear. Unfortunately I am not sure of the bear's launch date....but this will be publicised in due course.
Regards
M----- M-----
P.A. to S----- Director and to R----- O----- Executive
Bean Watcher comment: Nigel the bear, a Beales exclusive, was officially introduced on September 10, 2006.

In-hand Pictures of the St. Louis Zoo Commemorative
New Hampshire, USA
May 30, 2007
Malia from New Hampshire shares her in-hand pictures of the St. Louis Zoo commemorative that recognizes the birth of two Asian elephants: Mahila and Jade. Malia points out:
The tush tag of this beanie says Shocks
The hang tag is distinctly different than the one affixed to Shocks the elephant.
Picture 1. St. Louis Zoo commemorative with Shocks tush tag and St. Louis Zoo price tag.
Picture 2. Mahila and Jade commemorative with special Ty hang tag.

Picture of NASCAR Bears Surfaces
Georgia, USA
May 30, 2007
Nigel from the UK informs us that CindysBeans.com, a Georgia-based retailer, has posted a picture of three NASCAR-themed Beanie Babies on its website.
When I first posted news of these NASCAR bears (see my abridged December 20, 2006 report below), attendees at last year's Ty National Representatives meeting were discussing plans to offer them. It seems that their plans have finally borne fruit...
The picture may have come from the front of the upcoming Ty Summer 2007 Trade Show Schedule (see my May 29, 2007 article) since the bears are said to be released at the Summer Trade Shows. Last year (2006) Summertime Fun the bear, a trade show exclusive, made its appearance on the front of the Summer 2006 Trade Show Schedule (click here).

December 20: Licensed Beanies and Talk Among Ty Representatives
A reliable source shares information about discussions held during a recent Ty National Representative meeting. Regular Bean Watcher readers know that Ty has sold several licensed beanies in the past two years....
According to the source, Ty Inc. representatives are exploring other ideas for licensed products. At the aforementioned meeting, there were discussions (repeat, discussions, not definite plans) to offer National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (aka NASCAR) - themed products.
The source also states that Ty, Inc. is "in talks" with The Walt Disney Company to introduce Disney-themed plush toys. Apparently, the Disney Company is considering a plan to contract out the manufacturing of its plush toys for tax-savings purposes. Whether or not these talks will lead to a signed contract is not known. But IF a contact is a signed, expect to see more exciting styles. We'll just have to wait and see....

Latest CHERISH Update
England, UK
May 29, 2007
Sue Owen from the UK, a supporter of CHERISH, has posted news of her latest fundraiser. Sue shares the following:
A new CHERISH auction has started - for the #1 of a series of 6 sets of Cure and Lullaby promotional beanies. The commemoratives were created and donated by beanie collector and skydiver Anne Worden to commemorate the 2005 event, Jump for the Cause!
More than 100 women from all over the world joined together in California to make a special formation sky dive. The feat was performed to raise funds for breast cancer research, through the City of Hope. After several attempts over the course of a week, they succeeded in achieving the formation, which they held for 4.8 seconds.
Anne is hoping to raise further funds for breast cancer research, this time through Cancer Research UK, by selling her commemorative 'Brit Chick' beanie sets. These beanies represent the British team that took part in the event.
You can read more details about the commemorative on the CHERISH website or on the eBay (UK) auction itself (click here). If the link does not work, search for auction number 170116558176 .
In-hand Picture of KnOWLedge Surfaces
Melbourne, Australia
May 28, 2007
A seller from Australia has posted an eBay auction with an in-hand picture of the upcoming Borders exclusive Beanie Baby called KnOWLedge.
The photograph of the unannounced beanie confirms that it closely resembles Snowdrop the owl, the
retired Ty Store exclusive.
The date of birth and hang tag poem, as posted in the auction, follows:
DATE OF BIRTH: June 19, 2006
Most every book that I embrace
Will take me to a special place
Tales of knights or ladies fair
Pick up a book and join me there!
To see the auction, which has pictures of the Beanie Baby and the Borders exclusive hang tag, click here (or search for item number 190117213700 ) .
Bean Watcher notes: The seller also provides the following (unconfirmed) information in her auction --
This beanie is exclusive to Borders Books stores and only available through preorder of the 7th and final installment in the Harry Potter series!
Not even Borders have this beanie as yet! And will not until they have Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
in stock on its worldwide release date, Saturday the 21st July 2007!!
The Week Ahead
Worldwide
May 28, 2007
This week, the month of May will come to a close and June will be upon us. Expect a flurry of activity. Here is what to look for:
The June 2007 Ty product announcements on Ty.com
The introduction of the June 2007 Beanie Baby of the Month and silent retirement of Marsh the May 2007 Beanie Baby of the Month.
The June 2007 Desktop Wallpaper (assuming that Ty is on time this month).
Also, we can anticipate the following introductions (either silent or announced on Ty.com):
The Cornwall-exclusive bears. (As a minimum, we should hear about Piran and Kernow Key Clip).
Knowledge (an owl style, said to be a Border's exclusive).
The time is right for the introduction of a new Ty Store exclusive with a US Independence Day theme.
Finally, there may be a surprise or two that may surface. What will it (they) be? We will know in the days and weeks to come!
Another Beanie Buddy to Appear Next Month
USA
May 28, 2007
The source who has been sharing pictures of upcoming introductions with us, shares a picture of another Beanie Buddy that will likely be introduced this week. The source writes:
When I sent you the original pictures of the June releases, one of the Buddies' pictures did not come up.... The mountain gorilla beanie... is being made into a Buddy in TWO sizes. You have the regular sized one listed, but the picture for the large one did not come up... This is the first large Buddy that Ty has done in a while.

From the Email Bag -- Update on Silently Retired Ty Classics
New Jersey, USA
May 28, 2007
Jennifer (aka PattiBuddy) shares an update about my May 25, 2007 article on silently retired Ty Classics. She writes:
Sugar (blue bow) Ty Classic style #1138 the cat is the only one that actually retired on May 25. 2007. Patter, Pitter and Kissycat, according to my record keeping, all retired silently on Feb 27, 2007.

Launch Day for Piran
England, UK
May 27, 2007
John from the UK (aka the phoenix), who attended yesterday's launch of the Cornwall-exclusive bears, shares his observations with us. Key points, which have not been previously reported, include the following:
Jonathon Swallow and Morley Lester, both from Ty UK, Ltd, were present at the launch
Fewer than 6,000 Piran bears were produced
Fewer than 1,100 flag-nose Piran bears are available.
Fewer than 950 of the Abbey Bears version of Piran are available.
The Kernow Key Clip is said to be a UK exclusive. No more than 20,000 have been produced.
Five lucky collectors who attended the launch of the Cornish-exclusive bears received a Billionaire 9 bear.
